Birding Outing at Washington Park

Join us for a Saturday morning bird walk in the Hyde Park neighborhood’s “under-birded” Washington Park!

Designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Washington Park contains 35.7 acres of prairie, wetlands and lagoons. Its many habitat types attract a wide variety of bird species.

Meeting Spot: The group will meet at the Fountain of Time, located on the southeast corner of Washington Park. There is plentiful street parking nearby on Payne Drive.

Accessibility: We will travel ~2 miles on unpaved and paved trails (mostly flat). There are benches along the path. The natural areas are distant from traffic & noises and do not experience high crowd volume.

Trip Leaders: Jackie Smith (Washington Park land steward) & Katharine Spencer

Limit: 12 participants; registration is required.
