Rodenticide Campaign Kick-off Meeting

Two famous owls have died this spring due to in part to rodenticide poisoning - Flaco in New York City, and the male of the pair in Lincoln Park. Willowbrook Wildlife Center has confirmed other raptor deaths due to rodenticide poisoning. Limiting the use of rodenticides would help our local hawks, eagles and owls to live longer lives.

Our Advocacy Task Force has done some research, and identified some solutions that would work locally.

A campaign to reduce the use of rodenticides and promote less lethal rat control solutions is launching on Monday, April 29 at 6:30. Participants are welcome from any Cook County municipality and especially Chicago. Group members will educate ourselves and share what we learn with the public and public officials. Anyone can find a role - skills in communication, government relations, research and advocacy are particularly welcome.

The first meeting will be via Zoom. At this meeting, information will be shared and a course of action decided on. All individuals and groups are welcome to attend.
