Montrose Dunes Stewardship Work Day

  • Montrose Birds Sanctuary 200 West Montrose Harbor Drive Chicago, IL, 60640 United States (map)

Piping Plover photo: Judy Cheske

Piping Plovers and other shorebirds are on their way to Montrose Beach and Dunes!

Help clean up and prepare this important birding hotspot. Join the dedicated stewards with picking up trash, removing invasive plants, and other tasks to help preserve native beach habitat for our beloved visitors.

No experience is necessary and all tools and supplies will be provided.

Dress for the weather, in long pants and close-toed shoes. It’s usually colder and windier near the water.

Contact site steward Mark Kolasa with any questions and to RSVP: montrosedunesnaturalarea@gmail.com

Parking closest to the sanctuary (Montrose Harbor Drive) now requires payment; free parking is available along Montrose Ave and Simonds Drive (about a block away).
