Help CAS Save Birds - Join the Advocacy Task Force

Greetings Chicago Audubon community! We are pleased to announce the return of CAS’s Advocacy Task Force and we hope you will join us.

As we reflect back on 2022, we are grateful to all of you for the hard work and dedication you brought to our advocacy efforts. From habitat restoration initiatives, to the campaign to protect birds at Montrose Beach and on lands owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, and much more, we are proud of the progress we have been able to make in defending our city’s wonderful birds.

In 2023, we hope to make an even greater impact. As such, we are pleased to announce the return of the Advocacy Task Force and the launch of Quarterly Advocacy Task Force Meetings. Please join us for our first meeting on April 19th from 5:30-6:30 via Zoom.

The Advocacy Task Force will bring dedicated CAS volunteers together to advocate for better policies and practices to protect Chicago’s birds and their habitat. At our first quarterly meeting, we hope to use volunteer input to set CAS’s advocacy priorities for the year ahead and create advocacy campaign initiatives. Future meetings will provide a central space for our various campaign teams to share updates and support each other’s work. By re-launching the Task Force, we hope to define clear organizational roles and focus so that we can maximize the success of our advocacy. We also want to support volunteers in sharing ideas and brainstorming with each other to shape future campaigns. We believe this regular meeting time will help us maintain momentum in our work.

These meetings are open to all interested Chicago Audubon volunteers, regardless of your previous level of involvement, so please join us! We welcome anyone who is passionate about protecting habitat for and reducing threats to the birds of Chicago and wants to get involved with our campaigns.

If you are interested in joining us or would like to learn more, please fill out the form below. We are also requesting CAS members’ input on which issues should be a priority for advocacy in the coming year – please share your thoughts and ideas!
