Patch Chat - Washington Park

Try a new way of birding with Chicago Audubon Society and Chicago Ornithological Society!

Because birding in groups still feels unsafe for many of us, we’ve teamed up to bring you the safety of birding alone with the fun and information of birding with a group.

Here’s how it works:

Bird our selected birding hotspot, using the maps and info we provide. Then, join us for an online Zoom discussion where we chat about the birds we all saw or heard, and how the habitat welcomes them.

Each Bird Chat will also feature ID tips and finding info for some of the special birds of the hotspot  and a birdsong quiz. New and experienced birders will enjoy these programs.

This week we’re birding Washington Park in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood with a great bunch of people.

  • Ryan Fuller, Wei Lu and Rossy Natale of the University of Chicago Audubon

  • Judy Pollock from the Chicago Audubon Society and Edward Warden from Chicago Ornithological Society

  • Naomi Davis, Founder/Director, Duane Jarrett, Chief Gardening Officer and Dr. Nancy Jackson, Director of Youth Programs, Blacks in Green

  • Birders Simon Tolzmann and Julie Rand

Join us to virtually explore this beautiful park, as well as Blacks in Green neighborhood gardening, the great migration, and outdoor programs.

Visit our Birding Hotspots page for more information and a map

We’ll visit a new patch every second and fourth Sunday at 6; grab your dinner and your favorite drink and chat with us!
