This year’s count will be held on May 4th, and we certainly hope that a number of our Chicago Audubon members, and other local birders can take part again.
A pair of Great Lakes Piping Plovers are at the Montrose public beach in the early process of nesting. This is a first for Montrose and an exciting development for this federally endangered species. Volunteer monitors are needed.
This issue of Compass is filled with ideas about how to enjoy the gorgeous birds that pass through our region each year at this time. We are also offering some good ideas about how to support better bird habitat by planting native flowers and/or by speaking to our elected officials.
Help the birds and the environment, and enjoy a beautiful blooming native garden.
