Established in 1971, the Chicago Audubon Society operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with 4,000 members in the metropolitan area.   The National Audubon Society is a separate 501(c)(3) organization, and the 4 issues of Audubon Magazine accrue only to this membership.
